POSITION SUMMARY: Assesses, plans, coordinates, implements, evaluates and documents educational services for employees throughout all divisions of UNC Health Southeastern to include orientation, mandatory education, continuing education and competency assessment. Provides input into the development of policies and procedures for the Department of Learning and Professional Development. Participates in hospital accreditation activities related to competency issues. Assist with the on-going delivery of hospital-wide training. Coordinates staff development, faculty and /or student nurse orientation as designated.
EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
Minimum Required: Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing; graduate of an approved Registered Nurse Program with current licenses to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina. A minimum of five years RN experience. Possess the ability to provide classroom instruction with a working knowledge of basic computer skills. Previous work experience in an education or teaching environment.
Preferred: Ability to achieve BLS Instructor status and/ or nursing certification in chosen area of specialty. Possess education/training/experience in the principles of adult learning. Proficiency in the use of audiovisual equipment, word processing and presentation software.
ADDITIONAL SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Incumbent must demonstrate an ability to apply age-appropriate principles of communication and clinical practice relevant to neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients. Incumbent must demonstrate competence in the use of equipment and application of procedures before being allowed to perform independently.
